It’s an amazing time to be a salad lover, with ever-expanding options available in the packaged greens section of supermarket’s produce department. Since discovering the amazing Organic Girl’s Butter-Plus Lettuce Mix, I’ve upped the amount of greens on my breakfast, lunch and dinner plate. Yes, I eat salad for breakfast. This exercise has also been an awesome excuse to hone my homemade salad dressing skills. Here are great creamy salad dressings that rose to the top of the list of creamy/dreamy ways to make those wonderfully tender greens shine extra brightly.
Chef John’s Ranch Dressing
Sour cream and buttermilk give this version a one-two tangy punch, while the fresh Italian parsley adds a fresh note. Debi T., says: “So easy to make and so good — I’ll never buy jarred or bottled ranch dressing again!”

The Best Caesar Salad Dressing
While romaine lettuce is the traditional choice for this classic salad, this citrus-y, creamy dressing proves its versatility. Tweaks from reviewers include skipping the egg substitute and using fish sauce instead of anchovy paste. (Good call!)

Chef John’s Green Goddess
Surprise! There’s a little anchovy in this beloved dressing, but it’s so subtle, you’re not likely to taste it among all the fresh herbs, garlic and lemon juice.

Chef John’s Blue Cheese Dressing
The brilliant twist in this genius recipe is using a frozen chunk of blue cheese for shredding. This technique ensures more of the tart cheese is mixed throughout the batch, which definitely won’t last long if you have blue cheese fans in the house.
More: Roasted Garlic Blue Cheese, Roquefort Dressing II and Bill’s Blue Cheese.
