I am loving cherries this summer. The deep burgundies, the bright reds, even the glossy Maraschinos. Sweet or sour, Rainer or Bing, a simple bowl of cherries is always a treat, but I’m on the hunt for the perfect cherry pairing. Let’s begin with the savory.

1. Cherry Meets Chicken: Cherry Chicken Lettuce Wraps

Cherry and chicken go great together in this savory wrap. Just read the rave reviews on the flavor combo of cherries with honey, teriyaki, and ginger. Plus, this recipe is low carb and ready in under 30 minutes.

2. Cherry Meets Pork: Pork Chops With Black Cherry Sauce

Cherries and a bit of red wine? Yes, please! Pork chops and rosemary? Absolutely! But all together? You’d be surprised how well these ingredients play together. This is another great way to put dinner on the table with panache.

3. Cherry Meets Couscous: Couscous with Dried Cherries

If you’re feeling like a lighter savory cherry pairing, this vegetarian dish is just the thing. It’s exotic-sounding but actually simple to make. So simple in fact that it might have you craving the sweeter cherry pairings. Savory meals: It’s not you, it’s me.

4. Cherry Meets Chocolate: Chocolate Covered Cherries

Chocolate covered cherries are a reliable first dessert pairing. Chances are you have the ingredients on hand and will enjoy getting back in the game as you assemble each sweet little drop. But will that be enough for the long term?

5. Cherry Meets Cookie: Chocolate Cherry Cookies II

Take it up a notch. You know you like cherries with chocolate, and you know you make a mean cookie. Challenge your talents with a classic, but just a bit more interesting, match.

 6. Cherry Meets Ice Cream: Vanilla Cherry Ice Cream

If you have an ice cream maker, this match couldn’t be more delightful. But if you don’t, you’re simply not ready for this relationship. Know what’s right for you.

7. Cherry Meets Sorbet: Sour Cherry Sorbet

Now things are getting interesting. Cherry combines with sugar, almond extract, and a bit of white wine for a refreshing summer fling. But will it last through the fall?

8. Cherry Meets Poke Cake: Poke Cake III

Poke cake is delicious. Your average moist cake gets lighter and more colorful with cherry pie filling and whipped topping. This pairing is a crowd-pleaser and well-received by your family and friends, but is such a light treat enough for you?

9. Cherry Meets Pound Cake: Maraschino Pound Cake

Things are getting serious. 6 eggs, 3 cups of sugar, over 3 cups of flour, a quarter cup of butter….. the list goes on. Some say it’s a lot of work, some say it couldn’t be easier. Give it a try!

10. Cherry Meets Coconut: Cherry Coconut Bars

Remember that guy you met on vacation? Very sweet, a little nutty, a delightful combination of the exotic and the familiar? These tropical treats are him… in super-sweet cookie bar form.

11. Cherry Meets Bourbon: Happy Cherries

Oh, Happy Cherries. There’s no denying who you are. A seven-day soak in bourbon? You like to party. You’re a hit at parties and also go great with vanilla ice cream. But, let’s face it, you’re a bit of a lush.

12. Cherry Meets Ravioli: Ravioli Dolci (Sweet Ravioli)

They sound savory but are actually sweet. A little time-consuming but worth the effort. They look beautiful, but is there substance beneath that light, buttery surface? You be the judge.

13. Cheery Meets Pie: Sour Cherry Pie

This is it. You’ve found the one: classic, all-American, adored by all, but most importantly loved by you. Reliable enough to go the distance and challenging enough to keep you entertained, cherry pie will satisfy you for years to come. One reviewer said it best: “I will never make another recipe!! Easy and delicious.”

Isn’t that just how love should be? Dish it up and enjoy.

Now that you’ve found the one, keep your relationship strong by learning to master the lattice crust and thicken your fruit pies. Crust still not as flaky as you’d like? We can help.

And if you thought dating was “the pits,” we’ve got the tips to pit those cherries.
